The web site of
the Devon branch of the Association For All Speech Impaired Children contains no tricks or
gimmicks. It has been designed with the view that the information that the charity wish to
display is the important thing rather than animations or dynamic content. Devon AFASIC
provide a regular newsletter which is provided on the site using PDF files and the free
Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in software. There is a link to download this software should
you not already have it installed on your computer.

Buildtec are
general builders and bricklaying contractors. Their web site is a very simple affair
designed simply to confirm their presence on the net and provide a means to contact them
via the internet. It works, too! Buildtec have received enquiries from labourers as far
afield as Australia seeking work in the UK. A nice touch on the site is their pictorial
account of the gruelling Royal Marines Commando Challenge which they undertake each year
in aid of charity.

Connect Finance
Ltd are business finance consultants and their web site was originally envisaged to contain a central
point of focus with explanations of the various services they provide and links to
various types of information and enquiry forms. This was achieved
using 'pop-up' windows which was deemed a less than satisfactory
solution. The original design of the site was revamped after 2 years
to give it a more professional, corporate look. To achieve this, it is
very low on graphical content and high on information.

This newly formed
company opted for a graphically rich look to their web site and we offered them some neat
trickery, including a dynamic side bar of images pertinent to the respective service
pages, similar to the 'quickfolio' side bar on this web site. On each of the service pages
there is a link to an enquiry page at which stage the relevant boxes are pre-checked
according to which page launched the enquiry form.

Seasons Cleaning Services |

A very simple web
site was required by Four Seasons, containing just a list of the services they provide and
an enquiry form to get in contact with them. The company is currently expanding into other
areas and it is thought that the web site will be redeveloped into something more
comprehensive and informative at some point in the future.

Again, a very
basic site containing just contact details and an online enquiry form. As with the Four
Seasons site above, JC Stores are hoping to redevelop their site in the near future to
provide a monthly update on certain special offers available in their shops. Both the
company's domains (.co.uk and .com) are hosted under the same web space so entering either
URL into your browser will result in the same pages being displayed.

Promotions Football Predictions League |

One of the most
successful and most visited sites nestling under the Lagerplease Promotions banner is
their online football predictions league where members compete in a league format by
predicting football scores week by week. This site contains good examples of end-user
interaction and a nifty little membership/password system for protecting the competitors'
integrity and only allowing registered members to participate. The site is, on the whole,
completely automated and driven by CGI PERL scripts.

MN Car Sales was
created for a local car dealer to promote the stock the company holds. The site utilises a
database system holding details of all vehicles the company currently offer for sale. This
database is searchable by the customer and only the vehicles which fit the specification
supplied are displayed in the results. A simple navigation system has been used
throughout, although the home page provides graphical links and descriptions of all pages
within the site. A comprehensive and secure administration area has been provided to allow
only the owner of the site to update the stock database and an online payment system has been
enabled using PayPal.

New Move are a
company specialising in national and international removal and contract packing &
distribution. The brief for this site was to keep things very simple and offer only what
the customer wants to see. Hosted under a free ISP, the site makes use of PDF files to
provide an estimate form (which it was deemed was too large and comprehensive to be
completed online) which the customer may download and print at their leisure.

Shamrock Golf is
a web site devoted to golfing trips to the emerald isle and provides a comprehensive
directory of contact and course details for every golf club in Ireland. This site is a
good example of a database driven web application and also makes use of online payment
systems in order for customers to purchase access to the online directory. Again, this
site is mainly driven by CGI PERL scripting.

Style is a retail outlet specialising in luxurious, top of the range
sofas and other furniture. The site utilises a small database
detailing the complete range of furniture available at the store which
is available to be browsed using a variety of filters. The design has
been kept very simple, yet classic to compliment the image of the
store itself.

The
Wholistic Health Centre in Plymouth, Devon is a specialist health
centre offering all manner of workshops, classes and groups relating
to natural health care. The brief was very simple and the site has
been designed to comply with their corporate image and promotional
literature. There are no tricks or gimmicks on this web site - the
information on display is the important thing.
